Violin and Viola lessons for All Ages and Skill Levels
What People are Saying
During the 2 years of online lessons during the pandemic, we had noticed the lack of engagement with our children and their violin. At this time, we knew a switch was needed and the family started new trainings with Meghan. We noticed a change right away. She was patient and attentive in helping them break from their year of bad habits. Even after a short period of time, she supported their practice and even got one of our children to challenge the RCM exam. Thanks for a great year and looking forward to many more !!
Meghan is a dedicated and professional teacher. She keeps a good balance between firm technique requirements and maintaining student’s interest. My daughter improved significantly after 6 months of lessons with Meghan, and she even won a scholarship competition which further increased her confidence. Meghan has always been helpful with preparing my daughter for the audition recording and concert preparation. She also has very good time management skills, so her schedule is always reliable and also flexible when needed. At the same time, she keeps good communication with the parents. It is truly a great pleasure to have Meghan as our violin teacher.
Fantastic experience. Meghan’s approach is well thought out, methodical and filled with patience for new students. If you’re interested in seeing if the Violin or Viola are right for you, do what I did and rent one. Then take this class.
Thank you very much for the last workshop about arm vibrato; very helpful information and classes and a great instructor, I hope to be in the next lesson, 100% recommended!
Dear Meghan,
I want to thank you for teaching not only me, but my peers as well. I appreciate the time and effort that you put into teaching all of the techniques and concepts of arm vibrato. I think you did well engaging us in the workshops but at the same time making it educational and beneficial. This was my first time learning vibrato and you made it extremely understandable. You always told me what I was good at and what I could improve on without making me feel bad about myself and I appreciate that. I liked learning about swells and how to add dynamics with vibrato. Thank you for assisting all of us on our way to become better musicians!
Dear Meghan,
Thank you so much for doing this workshop with us, I learned many valuable lessons! I think I will continue to use the rhythms you gave us for vibrato and fast passages in pieces I have. I really enjoyed the lessons on the stylistic approaches to vibrato. I know this will help me with not only arm vibrato but wrist vibrato as well. Before this workshop I didn’t think about the different types of vibrato I could do for different pieces. I think that when I practice this more, it will improve my musicality and my understanding of the pieces I am playing. You also taught us important lessons on right and left hand independence. After those lessons, my use of bow increased and has been improving depending on the piece I am playing. Thank you for offering your time to us and I am excited to further improve my skills with the knowledge you have given me!
Hi Meghan,
Thank you for taking time out of your day to teach us more about vibrato. I thought I knew enough about vibrato, but your lessons really opened my eyes up. I liked starting at the basics such as the ambulance mode along with changing width and speed. This helped build a better foundation when we had to play a passage with vibrato. I learnt that vibrato doesn’t need to be applied to every note, as the lack of vibrato can help enhance the next note that does have it. I also learnt that the little things we learnt can be used together when playing vibrato with style, though I do need to practice more for it to happen more smoothly. Each lesson was meaningful, and I learnt a lot. I am excited to take more workshops in the future to improve my skills and grow as a violinist!
I have had the pleasure of working with Meghan for a number of years now. As a Composer and Audio Director for AAA Nintendo video game titles, I have used Meghan as a studio session player on both violin and viola. She has been a consummate professional on every recording session. Her emotive performances can be heard throughout the score to last year’s Luigi’s Mansion 3 with over 7 million units sold. I have also been fortunate to study violin and viola with Meghan in the pursuit of evolving my own understanding of these instrument’s nuances. Her teaching style was firm but her method flexible enough with the curriculum that we could focus and direct my learning on what mattered most to my journey and application. I look forward to both working with and continuing to learn from Meghan.
Dear Meghan,
Thank you for taking the time out of your days to instruct us through the arm vibrato workshop. Even with the limits of it being online, we were able to get a dynamic and interactive experience each class. You made sure to address each student and let us know what we had to work on, as well as what we were doing well. The skills I learnt from the classes and assignments have enabled me to experiment with arm vibrato in some of our pieces during my practicing. With more practice increasing my vibrato speed and dexterity, I believe I can begin to incorporate the vibrato into my playing.
Dear Meghan,
Thank you for personally teaching us arm vibrato. You gave us great and clear feedback that we can use to improve greatly. Some of the things you gave us such as the rhythm practices helped me in more than just practicing vibrato. It helped me with my struggles with rhythms in general and getting used to playing with a metronome. Even though the workshop was only four classes long, it taught me a lot and guaranteed success in mastering arm vibrato as long as I practice.
Dear Meghan,
Thank you for this special opportunity that you’ve giving us to help us with arm vibrato. I’ve been practicing it wrong for a while, and the workshop taught me how to do it properly with rhythms you’ve given to us to practice. The techniques and styles of when and how to use vibrato in certain parts of music will make the music I produce so much more impactful. As I continue to practice, I soon hope to see promising results in the future.
